Try this: I John 2:10 says “ Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make his stumble.” Be alert to someone that crosses your path today who needs your love. Let God show you your blind spot through the light of meeting someone else at the point of their need. Obstacles don’t cause us to stumble: darkness does. Self focus is darkness, loving others brings light.

We have lots of folks needing a little love.

Want to help? Get connected to our volunteer programs. The article also discusses the decreasing availability of resources to meet the growing need, and prescribes measures that we can take to prevent and end homelessness in America. Click here to read the entire article, and please leave comments and share with your friends and family.

Thank you for your support!

Maria Foscarinis
Executive Director
National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty

Spring Break 2009

Spring has come to Northwest Florida and Panama City Beach. Thousands of young people swamp to the sandy-white beaches to gorge in the sun and fun. Let's not forget the SPF and skimpy bathing suits during the day. And at night, there's always Club LaVela, right?

However, several groups of teens and young 20-somethings seek the Panama City Rescue Mission in search for a more meaningful and spiritual vacation from books and teachers. They come not only for the balmy weather, but for something deeper than which will affect their skin.

They're on a mission from God to help others in need.

Thankfully, the Mission has a place for these youngsters. With a formidable volunteer program, we're able to place groups in various spots to make a mark. There are opportunities all year long--not just at Thanksgiving.

From mowing the lawn at Bethel Village, to sorting out the food pantry that got disorganized from collections through the many massive food drives over the winter months. These kids are doing and making a difference. After all, with the increase in demand for services over the winter, Mission staff is worn out from all the work we put in. Any help is welcome. So, to the breakers, we say thank you! Please keep them coming.

And don't forget the SPF.

To volunteer

To Donate
